For the team at TML Publishing the month of May is always a special month – it’s the month of TRENZ (Tourism Industry Rendezvous New Zealand), New Zealand’s biggest annual international trade event. With travel buyers from around 30 countries attending, TRENZ is an exciting time for exhibitors – none more so than TML Publishing. The brand-new New Zealand Trade Manual 2011/12 was launched at TRENZ 2012 and it proved to be a huge success.

Apart from its new contemporary look – New Zealand Trade Manual 2011/12 is a glossy A4 publication with an instantly recognisable orange cover – the new edition features more information about New Zealand than ever before.

The brand-new Selling New Zealand section looks set to be an indispensable tool for travel agents in 2011 – we’ve already had great feedback on this feature. Packed with industry information and updates, lists of New Zealand’s unique selling points, handy quick reference fact files and seasonal information, Selling New Zealand also covers different ways of seeing Aotearoa, helping the trade to tailor holidays to specific clients, whether they are backpackers, business travellers or parents planning a family vacation.

The New Zealand Culture, Natural New Zealand and New Zealand Luxe sections offer even more in-depth information. Of course, there is also a detailed Rugby World Cup 2011 section and up-to-date information on Christchurch in the post-earthquake recovery phase. The activity section has expanded significantly as well, with detailed information now provided for highlights such as cycling and mountain biking, walking and hiking, and skiing and snowboarding. The regional directory includes a wealth of information on New Zealand visitor destinations as well as region-specific selling tips and maps.

Throughout the manual, you’ll also find Q&As with tourism industry professionals who share the inside word on New Zealand travel trends and advice. Lesley Immink, CEO of ITOC (Inbound Tour Operators Council) and Mark Alderson, Service Delivery Manager for Qualmark, are just two of the industry experts we spoke to. Did you know that Qualmark has just completed a full-scale update of the Qualmark logos? We’re proud to say that New Zealand Trade Manual 2011/12 is the first New Zealand travel publication to use the new-look Qualmark logos – just one more way in which we’re staying ahead of the game!

As a Christchurch-based company, TML Publishing was badly shaken in the earthquake at 12:51 on 22 February.

The year is off to an exciting start here at TML Publishing. Our first 2011 travel publications are out in the world and already receiving great feedback from clients and readers.

The New Zealand Travel Guide is now a staggering 60 pages bigger than the previous issue and packed with even more detailed information on New Zealand culture, nature, activities, accommodation and New Zealand lifestyle. The brand-new design makes it even easier to find snippets of New Zealand travel material, while our new feature articles offer in-depth insider information. A range of New Zealand itineraries and Q&As with Kiwi personalities as well as editor’s picks truly make the 2011 New Zealand Travel Guide the ultimate must-have to live, breathe and experience New Zealand!

Launched last year, the South Island Backpacker and North Island Backpacker guides have been revamped and thoroughly updated as well and are a prized possession for any self-respecting backpacker these days!

Finally, the Culture & Nature guide received great feedback on its 2010 launch and is now in its second edition. Culture & Nature has all travellers need to know about New Zealand history, Maori culture and Kiwi cultural icons, creative New Zealand and Kiwi cuisine in its expanded Culture section, and detailed information on national parks, sustainable New Zealand, New Zealand’s Great Walks, wildlife and more in the Nature section.

But we have even more up our sleeves! The year is still young and there is much more to come. Most of our future projects are still top-secret, but we can give away that Brown Bear’s Ski & Snowboard New Zealand guide will be out in time for the 2011 New Zealand ski season in a new, funky A5 format. Watch this space!

At the end of May TML Publishing attended the superlative event TRENZ (Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand) for the very first time, and we came back with excellent feedback. Apart from showcasing the 2010/11 edition of our New Zealand Trade Manual – the indispensable tool that helps source, promote and sell export-ready New Zealand tourism products to the overseas travel market – we also launched our latest publications. Both the brand-new Rest & Relax and Culture & Nature guides were well received by buyers and exhibitors and greeted with great interest.

Rest & Relax is a deluxe guide for travellers seeking the ultimate in indulgence and relaxation in their New Zealand holiday. Visitors who want to experience unforgettable luxury and tranquillity amongst our country’s untouched landscapes, find New Zealand’s best retreats, spas and deluxe activities in Rest & Relax.

Culture & Nature focuses on New Zealand’s rich cultural heritage and natural secrets. Travellers in search of history, art and authentic cultural experiences, and visitors looking for rare wildlife and natural encounters have all the information they require handy in one niche guide.

Inspired by the success of those latest publications, we already have ideas for further guides up our sleeves. So keep an eye on our website where you’ll be the first to know when our new Backpacker and City guides are ready for publication.
